2013 Home Goals

This week I’ve spent a lot of time organizing and getting ready for a fresh new year, on both the blog and around the house! Speaking of a fresh new look, notice any changes around here? Oh yes, I thought the blog should get a little makeover to kick off a new year. What do you think? I’m always a fan of change so I like to embrace it every once in a while, but I also want your feedback!

Yesterday, we revisited my 2012 Home Goals and I promised I’d be sharing some of my 2013 Goals soon. I’m really excited for this year, I think this is going to be a huge year for big home projects. I even have my hubby excited about some of them, which means they might actually get done pretty quickly! Ahhh I’m so excited.

While I have a lot of little things on my list, today I’m just listing my big home goals for this year.

Ok so here we go!

DDD Home Goals 2013

1. Kitchen Makeover

The kitchen redo was on my list for 2012 and while we didn’t actually break ground, we did a lot of the planning. Our kitchen is tiny, like teeny tiny. I would absolutely love to make it bigger but we don’t plan on staying in this house forever so we are just going to work with what we have on this one. Think bright, white and rustic :)

2. Laundry Room Makeover

The laundry room sits right off of the kitchen, so it will be getting new floors already by default. Which means I might as well just finish up the whole space with it’s own facelift.

3. Half-Bath Makeover

Like the laundry room, we have a half-bath that sits off the kitchen as well. So this will also be getting a new look while we do the kitchen. It’s also a really tiny space so I’ll be brightening it up and trying to make the most of a teeny tiny bathroom.

4. Complete the Dining Area

In 2012 I completed the board and batten in our dining area but now it’s time to finish off the whole space! I’ve added a few more things since the ‘After’ picture below (which was taken during Christmas time hence the tree) but I still need to switch out the light fixture and add a statement piece to the far wall.

5. Living Room Makeover + New Mantel

This is one of my favorite rooms in the house, but I have yet to show it to you. So here is a peek at the really old BEFORE state of the room. Since the picture below, I have given it a rich new paint color, changed out the window treatments and replaced the rug. But I have a lot more in store for it this year.  Since we have moved in, I have dreamed of building a mantel in this room I think it is finally going to happen this year along with some other really big plans for this space. REALLY BIG! Stay tuned on this one…

6. Finish the Master Bedroom

This year I started work on our master bedroom (see below) but this was as far as I got. The picture below is the only completed section of the room, so this year I’ll be finishing the rest of the room!

  2. Those are really great goals! I definitely have some kitchen changes on my list this year too. Painting my cabinets is the first step but I’ve been hesitant because it is such a major undertaking.
