Disclosure: I was chosen to be a Michaels Maker for Michaels Stores. All opinions are 100% my own.
I’ve shared bits and pieces of our playroom over the past year. We are fortunate to have a HUGE room for the kids to play in, but it could still use a lot of help. For the first year we lived here it was the room that we threw everything in. It constantly looked like a tornado went through the room. But as long as all the toys in the house stayed in there, we were ok with it. It’s the kids’s space. But a few months ago I decided that with Baby #3 on the way I wanted to turn the playroom into a bonus room that we could all hang out in and that’s resulted in a lot more projects.
Today, I’m so excited to share our brand new Playroom Organization system that I completed this week to help keep all those little toys and pieces organized. You know, the LEGOs, cars, kitchen accessories and everything else.
I happen to be a big fan of baskets. They help keep things organized but also don’t require a lot of tedious work to put things away. Just toss the toys in the respective basket and you are good to go. My kind of organization system especially with kids.
Michaels has tons of products and storage supplies that can be used to decorate and inspire creativity in any room of your house or office.
They also just launched a new line of storage and organization product called Cre8ted Spaces available in stores now and it has tons of different colors, bins and office supplies – with more than 300 new items in 4 coordinating colors, you have to check it out!
Anyway, I fell in love with the industrial decor baskets (surprise), I knew they would be perfect in our playroom. Both the metal baskets and the black distressed ones are available in-store only.
To help keep toys where they are supposed to go, I created these little chalkboard tags using left over wooden tags from my Dream Tree Challenge. I gave them two coats of chalkboard paint and then wrote on them with a chalk pen.
To add a little personalization to the space, I hung the kids’ initials above the shelves. After all, this is their room ;) These rustic marquee letters from Michaels are on point (in-store only).
Here are a few pictures of the shelves in action.
Here is a quick before and after. Sigh. It feels so good to have another small space tackled. Now a million more to go!
