Ok you guys, I can’t believe this is my third fall mantel in this house. That means we are entering our third year in this house and that is crazy town. I swear we just moved in. Considering we still have moving boxes filled with stuff, I’m not really sure where time has gone.
Anyway! This is the first home that I have lived in that has a mantel and it is always a joy to be able to decorate it for the different seasons, especially this time of year! Keeping with the theme of our porch and other fall decor this year, I went with a Rustic and Metallic Fall Mantel.
I went with a completely different look than I have in the past. That’s what I love so much about seasonal decor, is that it gives you a great excuse to play around with different styles and arrangements and it goes away in a few months! Ha!
I bought this chair completely on a whim from HomeGoods about a year ago and I am loving it in front of the fireplace. Surprisingly, I don’t make impulse buys very often. I’m one of those calculated shoppers, I go in with a list and don’t veer off too much. However, every once in awhile I find something that I HAVE to have and I will figure out where to put it later. That was this chair. It’s floated around to various different places and I’m liking it here.
Because I decorate for fall so early I often have a hard time finding real cornstalks that are already brown. But this year Michaels started carrying them in their floral department, score!!! Best surprise ever. And recognize my Paint Drip Pumpkins? They finally found their permanent spot right here on the mantel.
I love the simplicity of white pumpkins. They are my favorite. Very rarely will I buy orange ones unless we are carving them as a family. I just love the neutral tones and beautiful textures. And you know what, even if you don’t pull out any other fall decor, a simple line of pumpkins is sometimes all you need.
When I put up my fall mantel, it generally stays up until Thanksgiving. But we shall see, things tend to move around here pretty quickly. Do you do an early fall mantel and then more of a Thanksgiving one later in the season? Or a Halloween one in-between?
I wasn’t planning on doing a full fall house tour this year, but if you follow me on Instagram I brought up the topic about doing one. I realized that I have so much fall decor out and it’s all done, so maybe I’ll snap a few pics of the broader downstairs!
Here are my two previous fall mantels in this home!
